Positive Programming for Your Future

Now, while you are experiencing this good feeling and you’re holding your thumb and middle finger together on your left hand, I want you to think about a situation coming up in the near future. This could be today or tomorrow, where it would be to your benefit if you felt this good during that situation. This could be at work, at home, in a competition, doing sports, just pick one for the moment.

Think where it would benefit you to feel this good. Imagine that scene. See it out of your eyes, and feel this good feeling you have right now, while you hold this trigger with your left hand. Create that future situation as vividly as you can, while you generate having this good feeling there. You are projecting staying resourceful and positive. This benefits you if you are in a meeting, sports competition, making a presentation, talking through a conflict, staying calm for a test—just create the situation while you feel this resourceful state.

Release your thumb and middle finger.

Generate This State Again

Envision another situation perhaps four or five days from now. Put your thumb and your middle finger together and press. As you do so envision the situation where you want this positive feeling to be. Maybe it’s dealing with a client or family member. Perhaps you’re being tested and you want to maintain your center, or there’s something you need to talk to someone about and you want to maintain this calm quietness at the same time. You can do this. You can carry this feeling right into that situation.

Let it go. Separate your thumb and finger for a moment. Once again I want you to put your thumb and finger together and, as you do so, think about a great time in your life when you had an absolutely wonderful time. You were feeling good, things were going great, having fun. You may have been indoors or out of doors, with friends, by yourself, it could be a holiday—whatever you choose. See it clearly in your mind. Notice how good it makes you feel inside as you remember it. See it, hear the sounds, you feel what it was like when you were there.

Reinforcing Future Resources Again

Project out to a possible future event that could take place a couple weeks from now. Envision it, while you feel this positive internal state right now. As you see this scene, notice your strength, your confidence, and how good it feels in your body right here and now. You feel calm and confident while you deal effectively with that situation. You maintain your composure as you stand here dealing with that situation. See it out of your eyes and notice how you are calm, confident and feeling good while you’re doing that.

Jump out to about a month from now. Envision another situation at home, at work, in the public, somewhere where you are doing something that could have been a tough situation. Now press your thumb and your middle finger together and, as you do so, you carry this calm, confident, strong feeling you have right now while in that situation. See it, hear it, feel it. Make it come alive in your mind and notice how your power, right here and now, flows into that situation. You are preprogramming your mind for a positive future response, using this trigger of your thumb and middle finger. Now just let it go.

The more you do this subconscious trigger mechanism, the stronger and more powerful it becomes.

Reinforce the Positive

Use this trigger you just created daily. The more you use it the more powerful it becomes, so keep enhancing it. All you have to do is think about a situation where you feel really good—where you feel strong, confident, powerful, having fun and laughing, enjoying yourself, feeling rewarded or acknowledged, etc. Do this a couple times to expand and deepen this good feeling.

Then for a minute or two, while you feel that resourceful state, press together your thumb and middle finger while you are imagining that positive scene in your mind. Talk to yourself about how great it is. Hear the sounds. Feel the relaxation and good feeling in your body. Allow the positive state in you to grow more. When you are ready, just let your thumb and finger separate.

Next, think of a time that could be a challenge for you. As you see it, press your thumb and middle finger together, and that strong, resourceful feeling will arise. See the situation with you in control, as you see it first person (out of your eyes as if you are there) and third person (as if you are standing back seeing yourself “over there”) dealing with the situation in a positive manner.

You have now created and preprogrammed in a positive response for your future using this subconscious trigger mechanism. Use it frequently. I have taught this to thousands of people over the years and it works. It works in athletic competitions, in negotiations, if you’re having a disagreement with someone you’re close to, it works when you’re setting yourself up to take a tough test, or do something that’s hard for you to do.

This gives you resources to help move you forward. You are preprogramming for a successful outcome in your future. You are building a positive trigger that you can use anywhere. The more you use this the more powerful it becomes and the better it works. Use it often.
