Finding acceptance is a great strategy to use. Acceptance is crucial for feeling harmony or feeling peace of mind and for being able to step forward. Accepting that there are few guarantees in this world and in your life and learning to tolerate uncertainty, is a huge leap towards being able to have more mental control and feeling better about who you are.

You have to differentiate between what you can control and what you can’t because there are so many things that are out of your control that you need to find a way to walk away from them, to have more peace within yourself.

Charles Buxton wrote, “The road to success is not to be run upon by seven league boots. Step by step, little by little by little, bit by bit that is the way to wealth–that is the way to wisdom–that is the way to peace–that is the way to glory.” Acceptance is part of the path to peace of mind.

St. Francis said, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change those things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.” That wisdom allows you to have acceptance of those things that come about in your life that sometimes get in your way.

Another aspect of having greater harmony and peace within your life is to make sure you are taking care of your health and to get regular health checks. In our society people sometimes say, “I’m in too much of a hurry I don’t really have time.” You need to see your doctor regularly; check your health, look after yourself, eat well and get a little exercise. Make sure you see a health professional. They can see things through scans, through blood work, through tests that you will never see. Even if you are feeling wonderful, you still need to go.

One of the things that will bring you more peace is knowing that your health is okay, not just guessing or assuming it is. Find someone who you respect and have them run tests to make sure. You will have more peace of mind.

Be a Life-Long Learner

We also need to make certain that we see failure as a learning curve. Now it’s been said that the only time you truly fail is when you stop going. The only time you fail is when you finally say, “Stop, that’s enough I’m going no further,” and that’s true. Yet making mistakes, not having it work out the way you wanted is not failure unless you do give up.

There are times to say, “Enough is enough, I’m done.” That’s not what we are talking about. What we are talking about is when you get discouraged because of something you’ve been working at and you give up. You lose heart. Many great events that have made a difference in all of our lives happened because somebody failed their way to success.

So we have to see failure as a learning curve. Failure has such negative connotations but actually we all fail right? It takes bravery to go up against a failure and keep going. It’s not that you don’t make mistakes, you do, but instead of giving up you look at what happened, you analyze it, you make another plan and you go again. There is a big difference between giving up, being discouraged and failing, and learning and growing and keep moving and changing.
