Self-Care is Essential

Another strategy for building more harmony throughout your life is don’t make comparisons. Forget what everyone is doing or saying, what you do makes a difference. What do you want, what are you willing to work for? We all have our own paths to follow and we are all learning and going through life at our own unique pace. Focus on your journey, lose the stress of comparing yourself to others around you. This is a sure fire way to gain greater peace of mind, more harmony and more longevity in all you do. You will last longer.

Even if you are the world champion at something, that is only temporary. There will be a day when another will take over your spot so do the best you can, get what you can, make your life work and don’t worry about if someone does it differently or better than you do. Do your thing don’t compare yourself to others.

John Neal said, “A certain amount of opposition is a great help to man. Kites rise against, not with the wind!”

Deepak Chopra said, “Every time you are tempted to react in the same old way, ask if you want to be a prisoner of the past or a pioneer of the future.”

Don’t compare, be a pioneer of the future. Move into those things that can make a huge difference for you. One of the things that adds to the harmony in your life is your perspective.

Johann Gottfried von Herder said, “Nobody can contribute to the best of humanity who does not make the best out of themselves!”

You need to keep your eye on the bigger picture. Will you feel the way you do today next week or a year from now? Perhaps, but most likely something will change.

Your current experience of life is so important, yet more often than not you will be just fine. Foster your peace of mind by maintaining perspective in life; perspective of what’s real, perspective of what’s important, perspective of those things that you can do something about. You need to remember that and focus on that, not on what you can’t do.

Another strategy for gaining more harmony in your life is making sure you get enough sleep. Sounds silly doesn’t it, but it’s absolutely essential. When we are tired, when we are grumpy nothing seems to go as smoothly. Getting somewhere between 6 to 8 hours of sleep is best.

Most people can do okay on 4 or 5 at least temporarily, sometimes you need to catch up and you may even get 9 or 10 hours. But scientists have shown that somewhere between 6 to 8 hours sleep at night is refreshing and enough for the majority of people.

Sometimes we mentally torture ourselves with things that we are telling ourselves. Instead, focus on what you can do and get some rest, get enough sleep – it is to your benefit.
