Blow Your Limitations Away

Your biggest limitation is your mind. Change it—and the limitations vanish.

Have you ever had something you really wanted to do, and you probably could have done it, but your mental state stopped you? Your fear, worry, embarrassment, anxiety, whatever, just nailed your feet to the floor?

To take the risk and do what you are concerned about doing, you just need to change your thinking patterns. Over 80% of all conflicts are conflicts of perception. It’s the way you see something from your own perspective, or it may be the difference in points-of-view between you and someone else. In either case, it’s still a perspective conflict.

Normally there is some truth to the limitation. The situation or experience being contemplated may be difficult, scary, dangerous, etc. That does not mean it can’t be done, or shouldn’t be done, it just means it’s difficult.

A caution sign on a road does not mean stop—it means “pay attention”. There are times when you see that sign and the appropriate response is to stop, but that is not every time.

Most limitations result from your limiting perspective. Do you believe you could start a successful airline? Neither did Richard Branson at one time. Then he shifted his perspective and now there is Virgin Airlines.

Those limitations that hold you back often result from, and are supported by, your internal dialogue telling you that the limitation is real. There may be something factual within it, yet your negative thinking is often more a barrier than the thing itself.

A strong “reason why” will in many cases enable you to move beyond the perceived barrier. If you have a compelling purpose for doing what you desire to do, the energy and motivation to achieve your desired outcome will make it happen.

You’ve probably heard the story of the little old lady who lifted a full size Buick off of her grandson who was working under it? True story. She said she had no options but to get it off of him. She had a compelling reason why.

When real barriers to your goals occur, that’s the time to get creative. Instead of letting discouragement set in, focus on the reason why you want to achieve your goal. That triggers your creative subconscious mind to generate alternatives.

“The only limit to our realization of tomorrow will be our doubts of today.”
Franklin D. Roosevelt (1882-1945)

Barriers will crumble when you 1) detach from fear based emotions, 2) build a energizing “why, and 3) open your vision up to new possibilities. As you intentionally live this way, you will discover you have become as unstoppable as are the forces of nature. Go for it—you will love the results!
