Creating Your Success

Mark Twain once said, “The secret of getting ahead is getting started. The secret of getting started is breaking your complex, overwhelming tasks into small, manageable tasks, then starting on the first one.”

Another name for it that came out of Neuro-Linguistic Programming and is called “chunking”. Sometimes your biggest goals seem to be absolutely overwhelming.

It’s a rarity that you see things automatically as a series of small, achievable, do-able tasks. In reality, the biggest goals you’ve achieved in your life are precisely that.

You picked something that needed to be done, you broke it into smaller chunks and you took action. After you decide what you really want, and you figure out a way to break those things into pieces, you have to figure out what steps you’re going to take to accomplish your goal.

If you want to write a book, you think about what the whole book is going to be, you then think about the topics that will become the chapters, those are the various pieces of it. Inside of those chapters you think about inside of each chapter there’s probably 10 sub-headings or 10 sub-pieces that make that up. Inside of each of those 10, there will be five paragraphs. You begin working on a paragraph. You “chunked” down that book you desired to write.

It doesn’t matter what you’re writing about, whether you’re writing poetry, or whether you’re writing on race car driving, or you’re writing on success, or you’re writing a fictional novel.

You chunk it down. You break it into its bite-size pieces and you find a way to use each of those little things. Then as Twain said, you then start on the first one.

Albert Einstein also said, “Imagination is everything. It’s the preview of life’s coming attractions.”

To have attention and focus it in the now, you need to create compelling images, sounds, feelings of what you want to have in your life. Your destiny and creating that, which is the most and best for you, is about creating it first within.

As Einstein said, your imagination is your preview of life’s coming attractions. When you focus that image inside of yourself, and it’s clear, defined, and sharp, it begins to program your mind to give you what you want. It creates a compelling picture.

Put Your Visual Brain to Work

Visualization activates the creative powers of your subconscious. It focuses your brain by triggering the reticular activating system to notice available resources that are around, but often times unnoticed.

When you preform many tasks in real life, researchers have found that your brain uses the same identical processes it would as if you were only vividly imagining it. Imagined events run through the same processes as actually doing something.
