The Power of Beliefs

Albert Einstein was once asked by a journalist, “Of all the things you have studied and analyzed, what is the most important thing you have ever pondered?”

He paused and considered the question. He then said, “Probably the most important question I’ve ever considered, and that anyone could ask themselves is, ‘Is the world a safe place?’ ”

Is the world a safe place? Now the answer to that is really important, because if in your mind the world is a safe place, that means you can trust people, you can play, you can have fun, you can learn, you can grow, you can experience. It’s okay to be, to go out and to have things happen, to experiment.

If on the other hand the world is not a safe place, if that is your belief system, then its war. It can be kill or be killed. You have to be very careful. It’s dangerous, possibly hurtful. It’s scary. And bad things exist out there that you’ve got to be aware of and be afraid of.

The question of ‘Is the world a safe place?’ is crucial for the majority of us. So our belief systems about that can limit what we are, and who we are and what we can experience and we cannot experience. We need to think about what the beliefs we have about who we are – our work and where we’re going.

In The ‘Now’

To wake up and win means you become more conscious. You are present. You are fully aware of who you are, where you are within the unique system you live and that inside of this system, you are conscious. You’re not just running on autopilot, but are situationally aware.

You are aware of your world, and aware of what you’re doing. You are aware of your skillsets. You’re aware of those things you value and don’t just take them for granted, but live fully consciously now. And you know the belief systems that help you move through that which is your present reality.

Think about those belief systems. Life is quite irrepressible. Life happens and the more consciously you can live it, instead of just doing it on autopilot, the more fun it is. The better it is.

Experiment To Wake-Up

I don’t care if you drive the same route to work every single day, and have for years. I can guarantee you that as you drive that route to work there are many, many, many things that you miss seeing.

The next time you go from home to work drive just a little slower, leave just a little bit early and notice your environment. Now this doesn’t mean you don’t have to pay attention to the cars, you don’t want to get in a wreck, but notice your world.

Notice the billboards. Notice the colours. Notice the shrubbery and the trees, any flowers or the snow. Notice the buildings, the people walking. Notice the style of clothing. Notice the looks on the other drivers faces as you go. Become conscious. Be aware.

Be in the present and just feel and experience what’s all around you and notice the creativity that had to go into it – even if it’s an old building, think what had to go in to make those bricks, where they are and how they were that day when it was built.

Be conscious, pay attention, be present. That conscious awareness can help move through the ‘stuff’ of your life and the limiting beliefs that get in your way. Be conscious as you go through your day.
