On Becoming A Great You

Have you ever thought, “I wish I had what they have”? Or, “It would be great to be like them” or, “It would be nice to be as good at that as they are”? We have all experienced this wishful thinking.

You were designed to be amazing, not a copy of someone else! But you already knew this, right? YET, so often we still bemoan our situation without taking any action.

We each need to proactively move forward on our own unique path. That way we become the best “me” that we can possibly be.

Even if you are not a major basketball fan you’ve probably heard of Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James.

They are three exceptional ball players with incredible skills. But none of them could be the other (nor do I think they would want to be.)

It’s true that when they play they need to have similar skills. Kobe would be hurting if he tried to dribble only the way LeBron does. Or LeBron would be hurting if he only did a jump shot exactly like Kobe. Durant would be hobbled from trying to power through players like LeBron does. They each bring their own uniqueness to playing the same game.

You may acquire skills and attitudes of greatness but they must be applied in your own unique way. You can’t be Sir Winston Churchill, Sophia Loren or Albert Einstein. But you can be one amazing you!

Oscar Wilde said, “Be yourself; everyone else is taken!”

You have unlimited potential that you have barely begun to tap in to.

I don’t care how old you are, your level of education, whether you are male or female, rich or poor—you have the potential to rise to exceptional achievement!

What are you willing to dedicate yourself to? What will you put the time and energy into? No matter how hard you work, you may never attain the level of Kobe, LeBron or Durant—but you can become an absolutely fantastic you.

Look around and learn from the best you can find. Adapt their success strategies into the way you do what you do. Install the attitudes of power, and take correct, focused, consistent actions—and you will amaze yourself with who you become!
