The Secrets to Mental Toughness

Are times ever tough? Do you get discouraged? Have you ever felt like the struggle to do what you want or need is just overwhelming?

To keep going and achieve the success you desire takes Mental Toughness. Whether it’s dealing with work, home, health, finances, or relationships–there will be times where your level of mental toughness makes or breaks you.

Some of the traits that belong to a Mentally Tough person are:

  • Self-belief–They believe in themselves, their potential and possibilities.
  • Goal focus–Believing that they have the ability to achieve worthwhile goals.
  • They are unique–There are innate qualities or skills that will help them achieve the goals they have set.
  • Motivation–They are self-starters. Even in tough times, they can get themselves going.
  • Passion–Having the enthusiasm and focused drive to go for what they want, and stick to it.
  • Failure resistant–Everyone makes mistakes and has poor performance at times. Instead of getting them down, the mentally tough person perseveres, learns and keeps moving.
  • Staying focused on the task at hand–Being present and not letting distractions pull them away from what they are doing right now.
  • Not being obsessive–They can turn off their thinking about what needs to be done, so they can relax and take a break to recharge.
  • Managing negative thinking–Mentally tough people can get control over the negative self-talk that erupts.
  • Calm, composed and confident–They have the ability to keep inner control and stay calm within.
  • Think and act under pressure–Pressure is part of life. When it is on, the mentally tough can stay focused on their goals and keep working toward them with minimal distress.
  • Being realistic–Being able to sort what can be done and can’t, so that they are working on that which is doable and in alignment with their ultimate desired outcome.
