Proactive versus Default Living

Have you ever known someone who really achieves a lot, on a consistent basis? It doesn’t matter if their accomplishments are at work, hobbies, sports, school, seeing the world or wherever. There is a little thing that makes a huge difference. That little thing is attitude.

Since the beginning of recorded history, we can track those people who achieve greatly. In many cases they aren’t necessarily smarter than their contemporaries. They weren’t gifted beyond everyone else. But the attitude they had that made the difference was a willingness to give something a shot, to take a gamble on a positive outcome. They were proactive.

You Get To Choose

They lived on purpose instead of by accident. They were deliberate in what they did.

Specifically they were a creator. They went about creating the reality they desired. When you focus on a desired outcome, and you build an image or destination you want to attain, your powerful subconscious begins to work on giving that to you. Your desires are like fuel for the engine of your life.

Napoleon Hill, Earl Nightingale and W. Clement Stone repeatedly discussed how if we can mentally see it and believe it, we can have it or achieve it. It is within our mind and our attitude. The saying “Your attitude will determine your altitude.” is 100% accurate.

Determine What’s Most Important

First, build in your mind what you desire, then translate that desire into motion. It’s applying the laws of physics to the laws of success. It’s taking the potential energy that exists, and turning it into the needed kinetic energy of motion.

Physics says that a body at rest tends to stay at rest unless acted upon by some external source. And, that a body in motion tends to keep moving once it breaks free of the inertia holding it back. Your attitude of proactiveness is the force that can be applied to your life to get it into the kinetic energy of motion.

Design Your Outcome

If you live your life by default, so that “whatever happens, happens”, you will miss a lot. When you don’t actively choose your focus, your mind falls into old ritual ways of living, called habits. You live in the past and don’t receive the learning and richness of right now.

Think about your life as a piece of art. What are you painting on the canvas of your life? Are you designing an abstract or a precision charted work? Either way, choosing a deliberate, focused, passionate approach will give the greatest texture and expression to your art.

True peace of mind, fulfillment, aliveness and accomplishment are the result of what you first think, then do. So, be absolutely sure you are intentionally focusing your mind on the outcomes you want. Because your mind will create whatever it is that you are focused on most—be it good or bad. Be proactive. Make your life painting a great one!
