Don’t Waste Your Energy

Daily you are expending energy. All too often, that energy is being used up to stop you from taking action.

To make the most of each moment, you have to step out there and take action. It doesn’t require more of an energy expenditure to get up and go, than it does to sit and fret or worry but not do anything. You are just spending your energy differently. You’re going to burn energy one-way or another. How you choose to spend it (proactively or worrying) is your choice.

All too often, we waste our time and our energy in making excuses or thinking about limitations. We could instead be expending that same energy to create value.

It actually takes more mental energy to generate fear, then it does to create a plan. Instead of wasting energy on anxiety and procrastination, let yourself go! Free yourself from those barriers that are blocking your creativity and gifts. You have the value to share that no one else can exactly like you do.

Priceless Knowledge

You are a compendium, a body of knowledge. What you know, no one else can understand in exactly the way you do. Though they may have similar knowledge, they can not understand in precisely the way you do.

What you know is of high value. You have been building your compendium all your life. What you know is of huge value, and is all still residing in you.

There are skills you have that are unique to you. Though others may do similar tasks or talents, the way you express them are unique to you alone. Think for a moment of all the good you can do with what you know.

Every success you’ve had and defeat you’ve endured has grown your wisdom and knowledge. You can use it all in the very next thing you do. Instead of just reacting as your life unfolds—think—take a moment to reflect—then act decisively, proactively.

Right Now

No matter what’s happening around you at this moment—pause and put a smile on your face for a moment. Notice how you feel now as you do this.

Sure, things aren’t perfect. The plan you had is not going as hoped. The relationship is sometimes tense. You don’t feel as energetic or healthy as you’d like. Money gets tight.

Even though all this may be true—you can still take hold of the only thing you can fully control at any given moment—your own attitude.

Though you may feel more like slouching, brooding, and gripping—stand up straight for a moment, and as you do—bounce on your toes a bit. Hold that small smile on your face. Take in a deep breath and lift your head. Notice how your body feels as you do this.

Give Yourself A Reward

Everything human beings do, they do because they are going to get some payoff.

Why do you have a family, or not? Why do you live where you live, instead of a different part of town? How come you drive the car you do, versus a bigger or smaller one? Why do you do the job you do, instead of another one? All of these are due to the payoffs you receive.

Some payoffs are tangible—money, trophies, cars, people in your life, certificates, etc. Some payoffs are intangible—love, attention, happiness, security, acknowledgment by people you value, and much more.

Since we do what we do because we are hoping to get something good out of it, or to avoid something bad, then plan your reward. Don’t be haphazard about this. Pick your reward, make it into a target, and go for it!

Make the rewards you receive for all you do, inspiring. Make them rich, and exciting so you feel energized to take action toward them. Because when those things you are doing bring you a sense of delight or a sense of fulfillment by their accomplishment—nothing can get you down and keep you down.

Your Commitment

Have you recently made any commitments to others? At work, home, church, in your neighborhood? Do you intend to follow through on what you said you’d do? I would imagine you’ll do what you said, or you’d not have committed to doing it.

The commitments we make to others are important, but they don’t matter much, if we don’t first make the commitment within ourselves. What promises do you make to you?

For the things you agree to do or follow-through on, you must first commit within yourself in your gut level integrity center.

Years ago, while visiting with a couple of close friends, their daughter Lynn arrived home from school. That day in her third grade class, Lynn had not done what she was supposed to do, and she had also been disruptive.

The teacher sent a note to the parents notifying them of what happened. They were to talk with Lynn about it, then sign the paper, so Lynn could take it back to school.

Renew Through Reflecting

There are times that before moving forward you need to go back.

Go back to your life experiences and recall what you’ve learned. You have a vast toolbox of skills, that often are not used. You had a life lesson, you gained insights, it slipped into the back of your subconscious memory bank. The learning is buried. It’s worth your time to look back and recall the learning.

Go back and remember why you are doing what you are doing. Why have you chosen the career you are now in? Why have you chosen the personal relationships you have? Who did you chose not to be around or with—why? Remember what’s most important to you. Your “Reason Why” is central to your life. Recall it and let it energize you.

Go back within your physiology. Pay attention to the signals your body gives you. Have you ever heard of someone who is having health issues, but they are not aware of it because they ignore all the symptoms the body is giving them? Attend to your body—listen and mentally scan for how you are doing.

Create A Great Reality

Have you ever heard the statement, “Truth is fact, but perception is reality.”? It’s the perception part that often gets in our way.

What you think most often, becomes your reality. Your thoughts create your belief system—whether that thought is accurate and true or not. Those beliefs you generate will then spread throughout your life.

Your train of thought, doesn’t depend on if the focus of those thoughts are objectively true or not. What you ongoingly tell yourself, becomes real for you.

Your beliefs have the power to create and the power to destroy. Dr. Henry Beecher of Harvard Medical School proved that the brain has the ability to override the effects of drugs. Over the years, he’s shown that the power of one’s beliefs are absolutely crucial to healing and health. He spent much of his career studying this and how we can make our beliefs come alive and use them to heal ourselves and to have medicine work better.

It’s In The “Reason Why”

Is there something you want in your life, that you think is reasonable and attainable—but it keeps eluding you? Quit focusing on why you can’t. Begin to tell yourself the “reason why” you must—now!

Barriers and obstacles exist in the path to any goal. That’s just life. You need to learn strategies to overcome them. But before the skillsets—you need to have a compelling “reason why”.

The “reason why” is the driving force behind every achievement. When you want your goal, with the same passion as you’d want air, if you were trapped under water—very little can stop you!

Target in on your “reason why”. Keep that powerful driver in front of you all the time. Why do deadlines work? Because they are a powerful “reason why”.

Though things blocking you may be very difficult or powerful, build your purpose and energy larger. You do that through seeing the “reason why” in your mind bigger, brighter, bolder. You see the achievement as a “done deal”, and the secondary rewards you get from it as coming to you now. Carry the passion and “gut feeling” that are the core of the “reason why” with you continuously.

When you see the obstacle—look beyond it! Focus on the great reward you’ll receive by attaining your desired outcome. AND, link-up your desired outcome you are focused on, to your gut level “reason why”. That’s where the power is.

Through keeping your “reason why” always in front of you—you become unstoppable!
