Quit Trying, and Take Action

This Scenario comes from Starwars—“The Empire Strikes Back”. The scene is when Luke Skywalker’s spaceship has sunk into the Dagoba Swamp. Yoda told him to mentally levitate it out of the swamp.

Luke says: We’ll never get it out now!

Yoda: So certain are you. Always with you, it cannot be done. Hear you nothing that I say?

Luke: Master, moving stones around is one thing. This is totally different!

Yoda: NO! No different. Only different in your mind! You must unlearn what you have learned.

Luke: Alright. I’ll give it a try.

Yoda: NO! TRY NOT! DO, OR DO NOT! THERE IS NO TRY!

(Luke slightly lifts the space ship out of the swamp using The Force, then gives up and fails.)

Luke: I can’t. It’s too big.

Yoda: Size matters not! Look at me! Judge me by my size, do you? (Yoda is speaking of The Force.)

Luke: You want the impossible! (He sulks off. Then Yoda levitates the X-Wing Fighter out of the muck and onto dry land. Luke is totally amazed. He enthusiastically runs back over to where Yoda is.)

Luke: I DON’T BELIEVE IT!!!

Yoda: (Says very softly, yet powerfully, while looking at Luke) THAT IS WHY YOU FAIL!

You are either doing or you are not doing—you can’t try. “Tryin’ is lyin’” as Glenn Turner used to say. You are taking action or you aren’t. It’s a choice.

Get out there and Go For It! There are uncounted goals you can achieve if you just create a clearly defined plan, and then move forward on it.

You can make today, and every day, a great day—when you take action!
