Something Holding You Back?
Does it ever seem that things just get in your way? Do obstacles block the achievement of your goals? Is there something you dreamed of, but it eludes you, and stays just out of reach?
If you focus on what you desire, you work toward that goal, yet it doesn’t happen there could be many factors that block attainment. We will begin to explore one of those barriers. The key we’ll focus on that is central to attaining your desires, is clarity of what you want. Sounds pretty simple doesn’t it. It all begins in your mind. And the receiving what you want is aided or inhibited by you.
A number of years ago a good friend complained that no matter what he did things just didn’t work out. He’d say, “Things are going ok, but I just know sooner or later the ’shoe’s gonta’ drop’.” He’d find a great job, doing what he liked but just knew it wouldn’t last. He would improve his golf game, but just know it wouldn’t remain consistant. Or, he’d meet a nice woman and they’d date but he knew sooner or later it was going to end.
Here’s the problem. He would envision what he desired clearly enough that it would manifest. After he got it from that fine-focused goal/vision, he became dual minded. He’d think about the great thing he had, but he’d spend more time thinking about what could go wrong. He’d dwell on how it was going to break, mistakes he’d previously made that he might make again, he’d feel confused, he’d feel “less than” or unable to follow-through to the end, etc.
In the long-run, you tend to get what you focus-on and think about most. He’d contemplate the good stuff 10% of the time, and dwell on fear, doubts, and the “less than’s” 90% of the time. Well guess what! He got what he wanted. Barriers, inability to get what he wanted, problems, situations falling apart were consistantly his.
Dr Wayne Dyer talked about having a mental “delete button”. When this negative appears, you picture this big delete button, mentally hit it deleting the negative image and self-talk, and immediately envision yourself successfully achieving your desired outcome. You mentally talk to yourself about how you can do this starting right now.
Do not lose focus on your desired outcome. It will become your reality only when you keep it clearly before you. Make it come alive in your mind. You need to generate mental images of success, and talk to yourself in an encouraging manner, just like you’d talk to a close friend who was going through a tough time. You become that best friend to yourself. You coach you. You encourage you. You keep your mental compass pointed in the direction you desire. Make this your ritual, minute by minute, day by day and you will become absolutely unstoppable!
