Set Goals Then Commit to Action
How many great artists have ever lived? Countless numbers of them.
Over five hundred years ago, during the sixteenth century, there was a fabulous painter named Francis Moneau. He began painting when only a child and received rave reviews for the few pieces of small landscape art he created.
When seventeen, Moneau decided to paint a major landscape that would take nearly a full wall sized canvas. He got the canvas and began to plan the painting.
He sketched and designed his masterpiece over and over. He revised, imagined and redrew the dozens of different aspects of what would be this major work.
At age 39 when he passed away, he had not made one brushstroke on the canvas in the twenty two years he owned it. Nor did he paint even one small painting during that time.
You need to study. You need to draw up plans. Picture the successful outcome of your knowledge and how you will do what you do.
Yet somewhere the rubber must meet the road. Get started. Do something. Even if it isn’t perfect—go for it—take action. Choose one small step and do it.
Though you learn, plan, design—until you’ve take action, the game is not in play. From entering into action, you will make mistakes, you will have successes—but best of all, you will be moving forward.
In reality, until you commit, until you practice and work on your skills you cannot have the certainty we desire.
