Burning-Out–Attitudes That Create Burnout

Everybody at sometime has said, “I feel burned out.” Well, if you say that, you are probably on your way.

Burnout is a common occurrence in 21st Century life. It is the result of chronic pressure, tension and stress that just doesn’t let up.

Here are 5 attitudes and thinking patterns that lead you down the path to burnout. If you find yourself experiencing these, it’s time to make a change.

— Being impatient, intolerant or easily frustrated. If you do this you are twice as likely to burnout as are those who can calm themselves down and get control over their thinking.

— If you find it hard to be assertive or if you become overly anxious when in a conflict. This makes you twice as likely to burnout as are people who can stand up for themselves.

— If you experience low self-esteem or lack self-confidence, you are two and one-half times more likely to burnout than is the person who has confidence and feels good about themselves and their life.

— If you are a perfectionist you have three times greater likelihood of burning-out than do those people who give things a good shot and then can let it go. If you have a “be perfect attitude”, you need to move beyond it.

— People who have to be liked by others, or gain approval from the people around them, have nearly two and one-half times the burnout rate than do those who can shrug-off whether others approve or not. Grow a tougher skin and you’ll diminish your chances of burning-out.

— People who repress their feelings, or who hold feelings in until they finally explode, are two and one-half times more likely to burn-out than are individuals who can talk it out, walk it off, change their mental focus or just deal with it.

Take back control of your mind and emotions. Burnout leads to a large percentage of mental and physical health issues. Get a handle on your brain–sooner rather than later.
