About six weeks ago I was working outside on a project. I came in the house to get a drink of water and noticed over in one corner of our den that there was a funny noise. I went over to investigate and lying on the ledge was a small sparrow that was totally worn out.

I could see little bits of feathers scattered around it. What had happened, I’m sure, is that it had come into our house through one of the doors that was left open because it was a beautiful day and was trying and trying to fly out that window.

No matter how hard that little sparrow hit the window or fluttered around that window, it was not going to break it to get out that way. So I picked up the sparrow, it didn’t give me hardly any resistance, and walked over to the door. I opened my hands and it sat there for maybe five seconds then spread its wings and flew away.

No matter how hard that sparrow tried to get out of that window, it wasn’t going to happen. Sometimes, trying harder is not really the key to success and we need to remember that. Yes, you have to put out energy, yes, you have to work hard quite often, but just working harder is not going to get you where you want to go. It may not bring you that which you truly want.

To stake your hopes on a breakthrough just because you’re trying harder is not necessarily going to get you there. We will talk about how to achieve what you want without necessarily trying harder and continuing to bang your head against the object in front of you.

Getting More Focused

Are you ready for right now? For right now, this next moment? Right now, you are capable of amazing improvement in who you are, what you’re doing, the relationships in your life, the work that you do. You can multiply your personal effectiveness, you can take it to a whole new level in moments. You can become more and more. We are going to study the Science of You.

You don’t have to settle for what is. Things change and they change dramatically. You can jump to a higher level of achievement in moments. You don’t have to be content with just improving things little by little, or your level of performance as it is now. You don’t have to be completely content with the way things are right at this moment in time, because things change. They grow, they evolve. And it is time for you to help yourself do just that.
