Pay Attention While Taking Action

“The chief danger in life is that you may take too many precautions.” Dr. Alfred Adler (1870-1937)

Too many precautions—sounds ominous doesn’t it. Well, it is….

Too many precautions is often the result of fear. Just think about those things you’d like to do, or tell yourself “Yeah, someday I’ll do that.” Often the wait or the lack of doing is the result of fear.

Have you ever heard the saying, “The road of ‘someday’ leads to the town of no where.”

All too often we just don’t move when needed. Read more »

Manage Your Brain

Medicine and psychology agree that between fifty to sixty-five percent of illnesses are stress related or psychosomatic in nature. Basically that means, we do it to ourselves.

Us creating our own illnesses…. Now isn’t that a bum deal!

Create Your Desired Outcome

Isn’t it funny how some things just seem to fall in our laps, seemingly by pure luck–while others are so elusive? The truth is, these lucky experiences are there all of the time.

If you look at the ultra-successful, they may happen to be in the right place at the right time, but they are also in many, many places for that right place to occur. Proactiveness is crucial to creating these situations.

4 Attitudes for a Better Life

Life is too short to waste time resenting or hating anyone. Will people disappoint you? Will they commit to something and then not do what they said they would? Do others say things or act in ways that are hurtful? That is just them—don’t get caught up in their drama. Read more »

Stepping-Up To Proactiveness

Fleming was his name. He was a poor Scottish farmer. One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog. He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.

There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy screaming and struggling unsuccessfully to free himself. Farmer Fleming acted decisively and saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a beautiful carriage pulled up to the Scotsman’s poor home. Read more »

5 Tips for a Quality Life

1. Don’t waste your precious energy on gossip, or issues of the past, negative thoughts, or things you cannot control. Instead, invest your energy in the positive present moment and things you can do something about.

2. Realize that life is an ongoing school. You are here to learn. Problems you encounter are simply part of the curriculum. These challenges you face will appear and then fade away like the topics in your grade school science class. Yet the lessons you learn will reside in your memory and last you a lifetime.

3. Think well of your health. Do things every day to take care of your mental and physical being. By taking care of yourself you’ll have more energy and enthusiasm for situations you will encounter. When eating for energy and health learn from the farmers. Eat breakfast like a king—lunch like a prince—and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

4. Smile and laugh more. Even if no one is around—keep a relaxed pleasant expression on your face. Your brain knows that “look” means you are feeling good. It is a signal to the brain to keep positive feelings going. It’s a fast way to break the cycle of feeling the blahs or blues. And you just might make others you encounter feel better too.

5. Know that things won’t always go the way you’d hoped—but that’s not the end of the world. Bad things will happen—and you can choose to not let them ruin everything else in your life. The way you get treated by others may not be fair—but you can still succeed because you don’t give up, and keep taking action.

A Step At A Time

Have you ever seen someone who grumbles about waiting in line? Or gets mad at traffic. Or gets frustrated because someone doesn’t catch on to what’s being explained to them fast enough. Or perhaps wants major skills to magically appear with no work or study? Could this maybe be you—sometimes? Naw….

It’s always a step at a time, isn’t it? Yet, we forget that. Everything you know, everything you can do, is because somewhere along the line you went step-by-step.

We always want it bigger, better, faster. But, to gain mastery in anything, you must stack one piece of wisdom or skill upon another.

There are times when you can make great leaps in knowledge or ability. But in order to do that you have to have gained the foundational knowledge bit-by-bit. That is how the platform gets built from which you can make your launch.

Attitudes of Power

There are attitudes of power that will energize your life and bring vitality into everything you see and do. These powerful attitudes and emotions allow you to move forward into a more energized, vivacious, productive life.

One of the very first energizing principles is an attitude of gratitude. Live with an attitude of gratitude. Could you have more? Could you do better in your life, your finances, your hobbies? You need to appreciate what you have.

What’s a major culture shock for most of us is to go to some third world countries where they don’t have opulence like we do in the Western world. It’s a real eye opener. In many cases it makes you feel very grateful for all that you have.

Couldn’t you stand more? Of course, but gratitude is an aspect of love and thankfulness that are blended together. Gratitude is saying, “I’ve got stuff, I’ve got good things, I’ve got me, I’ve got health, I’ve got air, I’ve got what I need.” More? Sure more is fine but that isn’t necessarily something that you have to have.

Cultivate the attitude of gratitude and your life will begin to grow and expand because this gratitude principle is part of the ultimate law of success. To succeed you have to be grateful for what you have. If you do not feel grateful for what you have the universe will, in many cases, take away from you that which you do have. You have to be willing to enjoy it and to appreciate those things or you tend to lose them.
