Another characteristic of those people who are happy is they put their heart into their work. Whatever you’re doing, do it with joy, do it with power, do it with energy, do it with focus, make it the best you can. Give it the best shot you have. I don’t care what it is, even if it’s something that’s mundane give it the best you have at that moment in time. You’ll feel better about it, it improves your self-esteem, it makes you feel more enriched because you know you did your best.

Love is a verb. Put action into love. Put your work and your heart together. Put your heart into the goals that move you, work hard, in the end it’s what’s going to make you smile. It’s going to make you feel good. It’s going to help you have a richer today and a better tomorrow.

Sometimes things happen which are unfair. It shocks you. It stops you or gets in your way from doing something for a moment because it just zaps you. One biggy that we all need to do is stop feeling sorry for ourselves.

If you get caught up in the drama, you are stuck to those who struggle. I can understand how rough things are because we’ve all gone through them. Just know that things are going to get better. They will. Have they not always? Have things not always worked out? Even sometimes you may not have known how, but did things work out? Yes they did. Remind your self of that–it’s important to remember it.

You may feel like nobody cares sometimes. You know that sometimes it’s just overwhelming, don’t let that get you down, people care, you can get through, you can make it. Don’t get stuck in the pity party or the drama. If you do, it can sweep away your ability to make a difference. Life is not about feeling sorry for yourself, it’s about forgiveness, acceptance, joy, looking forward, getting stronger, pro-activeness, having fun, learning, experiencing. Do that every day.

When rough times come up, take a breath, maybe shed a tear or two if you need, but at the same time think about how things can get better. This is not all there is, things will change, it will get better. Don’t allow yourself to dwell in and live down in that heavy, heavy murky stuff. Part of that also is you sometimes have to fight for what you believe in. Great strength sometimes comes from overcoming the things that people say are impossible. There are very few things that really are impossible, there are sometimes things that are harder than others, but there are really very few things that are impossible. Some are just a bigger struggle.

So you have to decide what you’re going to stand up for, what are you willing to fight for? Because there have to be things you really believe in that you know make a difference. For those things you need to stand strong. If you believe in something, go to it, usually things fall into place, maybe not today, but eventually.

Through work, through practice, through focus, through going for it, it’s going to get better. You need to go out there and do battle, you’ve got to slay the dragons, you have to hang in there, to stand up for what you believe in and move forward. It is your choice, and you can do it better and better day by day.

Earl Nightingale said, “People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going. It’s as simple as that!” He’s right, you have to stand up, you have to fight for what you believe in, you have to have those goals and you have to keep moving.
