Part 10 of 11 from Mission Success

Eliminate “Try”, Move Into “Can”

You need to see what you can do, not try to do but what you can do and will do! Don’t allow yourself to be blocked by other people’s inhibitors for them. Perhaps sometimes we have to allow our assumptions to be there and at the same time we have to think, “That assumption may or may not be true.” You have to look at it, you have to see the truth and then you also have to ask “What part of it inhibits me?”

Keep asking this question, “What are the barriers I throw up for myself?”

There is a way to make a move into your future and it all depends on you. Are you going to allow yourself to sit or are you going to give yourself a little bit of pressure to move? Every human does a little better when they have goals and objectives; a deadline is much more likely to be achieved if you set one. There are people who really resist setting a deadline because it puts feet to the fire.

If I say I will finish this project within a week, that’s very different than saying “By Friday I will have completed this project.”

Within a week is a very liberal term. For some people a week is five days. For other people a week is seven days. For other people it has a fudge factor that may even be eight or nine days within their week. That’s very different than saying “I will set this goal and achieve X by Friday”.

You have to hold a bit of pressure on yourself. Not negative pressure but positive pressure. Only when we have a little bit of heat can we achieve what we desire.

Inside of your own mind you have to believe in yourself and you have to hold yourself accountable. You take responsibility for what you have done, or what you haven’t done. You give yourself a little bit of that pressure. You pick targets and move yourself towards the targets to help yourself get better, learn more and have a more powerful reality.

You can affirm to yourself what you want to have and you don’t forget to keep it in the front of your mind. If something is important to you and you want to achieve it, you can’t think about it once and let it go; you have to affirm it again and again and again.

Again that’s a choice; you need to practice gymnastics to be a better gymnast. You have to practice speaking to be a better speaker. You have to lift weights to get stronger or become more fit. It’s all part of the process.

So you hold yourself responsible and give yourself deadlines for when you are going to do them. You help yourself move forward. The only person that can stop you from having an amazing life and a better future is you.

Instead of “magic-ing up a future” by wishing you might have something happen, you pick a direction, you think about the skills that you need to have, you work on developing them and as you are developing them, you begin to take action, moving forward.

Sometimes the action can be faster, other times it is more inhibited. If you have no knowledge and you are just learning the action will be slow, if you have a full basket of knowledge as you begin to move forward you can then take harder faster more intense action. It’s truly up to you.

In this process of holding yourself accountable and moving yourself forward, you also have to learn how to relax. You have to relax, you have to calm your mind and you have to calm your body.
