Affirming A Positive Reality

Mr. Nightingale’s entire focus was on how to help himself and help others be the best that they can be. Some quotes that are attributed to Mr. Nightingale, I would like to share with you.

Self-Affirming Thoughts

He said, “Learn to enjoy every minute of your life. Be happy now. Don’t wait for something outside of yourself to make you happy in the future. Think how really precious is the time you have to spend, whether work or with your family or with friends. Every minute should be enjoyed and savored.”

Another is, “Our attitude towards others determines their attitude towards us. We are our very best when we are fully engaged in work we enjoy on the journey toward the goal established for ourselves. It gives meaning to our time off and comfort to our sleep. It makes everything else in life so wonderful, so worthwhile.”

He said, “People with goals succeed because they know where they’re going.” What a truism. Think about anything you’ve achieved in your life. It’s a result of you knew something you wanted, you picked a target and you went for it. You had a goal, you picked it, you thought about it and you went there.

He said, “All you need is the plan, the road map, and the courage to press on to your destination.”

He said, “Always keep that happy attitude. Pretend that you are holding a beautiful fragrant bouquet in your hands. Enjoy!” What an exceptional thought. “Always keep that happy thought. Pretend that you’re holding a beautiful fragrant bouquet in your hands. Enjoy.”

“Don’t let the fear of the time it will take to accomplish something stand in your way. The time will pass anyway, we might just as well put that passing time to the best possible use.”

“Your difficulty in life is to bridge the gap which exists between where you are now and the goal you intend to reach.” What a great one.

“Creativity is a natural extension of your enthusiasm.”

And this is the quote he is most famous for, “Success is the progressive realization of a worthy goal or ideal.”

Another, “A great attitude does much more than turn on the lights in our world. It seems to magically connect us to all sorts of serendipitous opportunities that were somehow absent before the change.”

“Picture yourself in your mind’s eye as having already achieved your goal. See yourself doing the things you’re going to be doing when you have reached that goal.” That’s crucial, we will talk about that more in detail in just a moment.

“Whenever you’re afraid, know it’s because you don’t know enough. If we understood enough, we would never have to be afraid.”

“Ideas are elusive, slippery things. Best to keep a pad, a paper and a pencil at your side, so you can stab them during the night before they get away.”

“All you have to do is know where you’re going, the answer will come to you of its own accord.”

“Wherever there is danger, there lurks opportunity. Wherever there’s opportunity, there lurks danger. The two are inseparable, they go together.”

Mr. Nightingale, all total wrote and recorded over 7000 radio programs and over 250 audio programs. His entire goal was to help us help ourselves.

Who have you helped today? Someone at work? Someone in your family? Perhaps a friend you care about? Hopefully one of the people you helped was you, that you did something today that is of value to you and beneficial to you in your life as it presently is. We each need to day by day be doing those things to assist us in being our best.

Take the time today to make a point of making one person’s day just a little bit better. Make their day an even greater day by something you do, something you contribute whether that’s a positive word, assisting them in something that’s troubling them, helping them getting an insight that could be of benefit to them or just being there to be a friend and have a laugh together. Make their day a little bit better today and as you do so, you’ll find your day also got better.
