The Perfect Time To Start
Have you ever heard someone describe another persons’ success as “luck”? “They are just so lucky. Things always seem to work out for them.”
Thomas Jefferson said, “The harder I work, the luckier I get.”
Got big dreams? Have something you’d really like to do that could help your family, community, church, company, or world? Begin where you are.
This moment of the day is the perfect moment to kick-off your action. Yep—you could wait. This may not be the perfect time—but usually there never is a perfect time.
For example, when is the perfect time to have children? If you wait for the perfect time, you will most likely never have children. There are always things that take priority or get in the way.
When is the perfect time to write that book you’ve dreamed about? When you get a billion dollar advance? When you retire? After the children are grown? After you complete your third PhD? Begin where you are.
It was reported in many newspapers of his day, that Robert Louis Stevenson was terrified that no one would like his books. A close friend of his who published them said, “I almost had to break into his house and steal his first book, to publish it for him. He was great at writing, just feared them not being liked.”
He took action. He started where he was. And because of the encouragement of his good friend in getting them published, we now have the books “Treasure Island” “Kidnapped” and “The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde”.
If there’s something you’ve been meaning to do and not quite gotten to—start where you are today. You don’t have to complete it—you may only have 15 minutes to begin—but do begin. Start where you are.
Make today a great day! Dr Larry Iverson
