Make Everyday A Great Day!
(Part 1 of 8)

How do you make every day a great day? Through your work? Through your attitude? Through your interactions with others? Through the integrity you hold? Through the spirit within you? Through all of the life you live and breathe and move through day by day?
Everything you do is either building or diminishing your world–everything.
Every moment in your life is adding to a scale, and you’re either adding to the negative side or the positive side. You’re either adding more negativity that draws away from your relationships and your work and the people around you, or you’re adding to the positive side of the scale and tipping it that way through the work you do. Through the enhancements you make, the people you support, the things you do to take care of those you care about, you live with integrity, doing the job you do in an effective way.

#4–Now you want to sometimes start with little things and work up. In other words, you like to read but you don’t seem to ever have time, what can you read for five minutes? Just thoroughly enjoy reading something for five minutes or ten minutes, or fifteen minutes. Start with little things and work up. If you don’t have time to take a two and a half hour stroll, take ten minutes to walk down the block and back. If you haven’t talked to your friend for a while, call them and say, you know I don’t have but a minute, but I just wanted to talk and just say hi and hope things are going well for you. I’ve only got a minute here, but let’s talk for just a second. How are you doing?

Be Here Now – Present
One of the last tips is you need to be present enough to enjoy the journey. You need to be good company to yourself. You need to be okay being alone. You need to be okay with what you’re doing. You need to find balance between planning and doing. You need to find when life is good, enjoy it. You need to find those positive little moments that enrich you and make you feel good about who you are and what you’re doing.
Don’t go look for something better every other moment. Happiness doesn’t come that way, it’s here already. Find the enjoyment in the moment, find the enjoyment in the doing, find the enjoyment in your circumstances where you are right now, no matter what they are.

Surround Your Self With The Right People
I mentioned something about this before. Who are you choosing to be around? Are you choosing to be around motivated, excited, happy people who are going places, doing things, achieving what they want? Or are you hanging out with people who are always whining and complaining about stuff? You may say “Well the person that I’m around that’s whining at me all the time is my mother, or is my friend, or is my brother.” So?!?!
You can either help them grow, change, evolve, see a new perspective, or you can choose to get sucked into their dramas. Either way you need to spend more time with the right people, the positive, the energized, the happy people. Don’t give part-time people a full time position in your life. You still may want to spend part of your time with those people who are in distress, but don’t spend all of your time with them. Why? Because it will drag you down.

Patience Is Required
Have you ever seen that cartoon where there’s a vulture sitting in a tree beside another vulture? One turns to the other and says, “Patience! I’m going to kill something!”
Well don’t rush things, practice patience. Keep a good attitude for working hard for what you believe in. When the time is right it’s going to happen, but you’ve got to keep moving. You’ve got to keep working, you have to keep putting one foot in front of another and just going for it. Never give up, never give in, just keep going.

The Power of Heart
Another characteristic of those people who are happy is they put their heart into their work. Whatever you’re doing, do it with joy, do it with power, do it with energy, do it with focus, make it the best you can. Give it the best shot you have. I don’t care what it is, even if it’s something that’s mundane give it the best you have at that moment in time. You’ll feel better about it, it improves your self-esteem, it makes you feel more enriched because you know you did your best.

Focus On You, Not On Them
You also to ignore what everybody else is doing and achieving. You’re not them.
Now you can do really well what you do, but you’re not them, and you have to do your own way. Your life is about breaking your own limits. Growing, to be your best in your own life. You’re not in competition with anybody else, you’re in competition with you.
Those athletes who are the most successful, they strive, they work, they go out and they compete like crazy. But the real competition, if you talk to most of them, is inside of themselves for improving their own game to be better at who they are.

Block: Fear Projections
If you have fears (and we all do) you may need to find ways beyond them. Your fears can guide you.
A fear to me is a warning sign. It’s like at a traffic stop light, there’s green which means go. There’s yellow which means pay attention, this is a warning, the lights going to change, so pay attention, you’re being warned. Red means stop. Fear, in many cases, is a yellow light. It’s telling you something is going on, something is going to change, so pay attention.
