Break Procrastination
You have to focus on what you want, not be focusing on what you don’t want. So you want to focus on getting it done, not on getting bogged down in it. If the project you’re going to do is large you may feel overwhelmed, you may procrastinate, you may hesitate, that’s normal.
Procrastination occurs mostly because the task we have seen or are thinking about doing is not broken into manageable chunks. If each piece to be done is large then run strategy on the first piece – not the whole thing, just run it on the first piece. Can I do the first piece? In other words, for writing a book, you may see the whole book done but then run a Motivation Strategy on getting the first page of the first chapter done, for instance, a chunk of a chunk. When you break it into pieces, you say “Yes, I can do that!” and the feeling of being overwhelmed vanishes.

The Opposite of Motivation
A saleswoman I coached could not get herself going to fill out the paperwork, her expense reports, and other reports she had to turn in until it became crisis-time. She was required to submit detailed summaries of her clothing lines–inventory on hand, products sold, and expenses at the end of every quarter. This inventory summary had to be completed within 30 days after the end of the quarter or she received a penalty from her company for not getting it in on time. She had to have all three of these things done.

Stimulating motivation is not an all day process. You don’t have to talk yourself into it. It works quickly when you have this playful, passionate attitude. This strategy is for generating a peak experience.
Motivation is a peak experience. It doesn’t go up, hit a peak, and stay there forever. It goes up, you hit a peak, and while it’s at its peak, you start. You don’t wait for it to start coming down, it hits the peak and you start. You begin your task immediately after building the motivation and momentum to get going.

Times To Use The Motivation Strategy
Here are a few times this can be used very effectively to get you going.
One is to get going when you want/need to get start on a task or project.
The second is, if you are getting ready for something the next day. You can do this the evening before to set yourself up, for kick-starting the next morning and then when morning arrives you do it again and start.
Or third, if you have a large task and you find yourself getting bogged down, feeling like quitting. You pause, you run through this, “Won’t it be great to have this done? Yes! It will be!” You then see it done, see the secondary gains. You then in your mind think/vow “I’m going to do it now! It’s going to happen now!” And you feel that positive feeling inside—AND YOU START! Just like that.

Eileen Caddy said, “Set your sights high, the higher the better. Expect the most wonderful things to happen, not in the future but right now. Realize that nothing is too good. Allow absolutely nothing to hamper you or hold you up in any way!”
Today is a new day. You have the opportunity to move many steps forward on those goals you have in your life.
Areas of Growth
Zig Ziglar said, “People often say that motivation doesn’t last. Well neither does bathing! That’s why we recommend it daily!”

The people that we called gifted or that we call talented are not really all that much different than the majority of us. They’ve accepted their gifts—quite often they work hard at them—they let it happen, but they don’t work so hard like the little bird trying to bash its head against the window. They work hard by working smart. They get people to assist them and coach them. They use untapped resources and begin to tap them and use that potential that’s in them.
It’s time for you to do the same thing with some of your gifts. Claim them. Create them. Reach for them. Make things happen. If you look at your skills that you’ve developed over the years, there are talents within inside of those that you have never touched yet. You can find those gifts that are there and enjoy them.

Failure can actually move us further down the road because it’s only failure if you stop. If you gain from it, instead of failure it’s learning.
Edison said, “I failed my way to success.”
Vince Lombardi said, “Failure is only failure when I stop trying.”
So long as you’re moving, you have not failed. Unless you allow yourself mistakes, and have things go opposite of what you had hoped, you’re not going to grow, you’re not going to learn, you can’t achieve. You must realize that if you are experiencing no difficulties, no problems, no pains, you probably either aimed too low or you’re not going to be getting where you really want to go. So think of mistakes as a positive sign.
